Get Your Mom to Let You Use Tampons
So you've been getting your period for a while, or have just gotten it, and find pads uncomfortable. You'll probably prefer using tampons. The only thing is; will your mom let you? Follow these steps and she most likely will.

Steps
- Approach her. Don't go up to her and suddenly ask "Mom, can I use tampons?" Try a more casual approach. You can go up to your mom and ask her about your period, or have a normal conversation, or, you can just say something like, "Hey, mom, do you think I could start using tampons?"
- This is the moment of truth. If she says yes, then, that was easy! But if she doesn't, you may want to back-up your question.
- Make a list of reasons (or just list them), and read about tampons on the Internet before asking her. Hopefully she'll be glad that you've been doing research for something that you want. This will also make her think that you're more responsible.
Tips
- Just in case she's not completely with the idea of tampons, you may not want to use them all the time. Try just during the day.
- Your mother will be more likely to let you use tampons if you research things like TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome), the risks of tampons, what the best brands are and how to use one.
- If no one in your family uses tampons, then you may really want to follow step 3.
- Getting your mom to say yes may be easy if you've gotten your period many times before. She should understand that you've had it with pads!
- Tell your mother if it feels uncomfortable to move around. She should understand and help you.
Warnings
- If you do begin using tampons, be sure to change them at least once every 8 hours. If you don't, you could be at risk for a very serious and potentially life threatening infection, called toxic shock syndrome, or TSS.
- Do not go through an entire day without changing or taking out your tampon.
- Always wash your hands before putting in and after taking out a tampon to keep the bacteria around to a minimum.
- You must be brave doing this. This may sound weird, but if you are nervous you will sound extremely awkward.
