Install a Bumper Sticker

Have you ever tried to put a bumper sticker or decal on your car and failed miserably? It seems easy enough and actually can be with a few tips.

Steps

  1. Determine the location the decal will be placed.
  2. Make sure your decal will actually fit in that location. You could just "eyeball" it, but it's best to measure.
  3. Before removing the decal's backing paper, use some masking tape or other tape that won't peel the paint off your car to hold it in place. Put one strip of tape down the middle of the decal so it's being held vertically above and below. See how it looks and adjust if needed.
  4. With the decal still attached to the car by tape, lift up one side of the decal and remove the backing paper. Now cut that paper off. At this point you should have half of the decal ready to be permanently placed. Note: some decals already come with the backing paper split in half for easy application.
  5. Start from the center and use your driver's license, credit card or similar to press the decal against the car. Move the card slowly up and down, working from the center towards the outside of the decal. You should now have one side of your decal fastened.
  6. Remove the masking tape that was originally holding the decal in place. Repeat step the previous step for this half of the decal.
