Kill at Age of Mythology

Steps
- Get a lot of villagers. Put 10 on food, 3 on gold and wood. (This is for supremacy or conquest.)
- Build a few houses when your population needs it.
- Advance to the next age anywhere between 4 to 6 minutes.
- Max out your houses when you can to get the most population.
- Make a few military buildings for fast production. (e.g. longhouses if you're Norse).
- Always try to keep at your maximum population by training units.
- Increase you total number of villagers, around 15-20 on each resource (about 6-8 on each for Atlantean), and if Greek, about 5 or so on favor.
- Advance to the heroic age as soon as possible, to unlock better units, upgrades, and buildings.
- When attacking, be sure to micromanage them so that siege weapons take out buildings, and to make sure that the enemy isn't picking off your wandering troops.
- Advance to the Mythic Age if you can and have a solid trade route, and continue to pump out upgraded units and strong myth units. Strategy is key.
- Defeat your enemies by thinking and micromanaging better than them. (Kill their economy)
Tips
- If there is water, try fishing! On highland and other maps, many people like to fish, because it's good.
- Make use of the terrain. If your town is on an island and you're Atlantean, train Cheiroballistra! They can sink ships very easily and drown soldiers in transport ships!
- Control the map! Build towers around gold mines or post guards at gold mines. Prevent your enemy from getting the resources they need! Gold and food are very important. Nearly everything costs gold, and food is required to make villagers.
- Get as many villagers as you can.
- Pay attention to what minor gods you worship. Don't worship Athena if you like to train cavalry (although you should train all kinds of units)! She gives you infantry benefits which don't affect cavalry units.
- Use your god power effectively. Don't waste Meteor on a group of 10 units attacking you when you have only 1 guard! Your town center will kill them all! Try using Meteor on a Titan gate or a Titan. Bolt also works well on a Titan, reducing its hitpoints by over 2000.
- Don't forget about your armory improvements! Many people end up losing since all they do is make their soldiers champion ones. With all your armory improvements complete, a heavy hoplite could probably defeat an unarmored champion hoplite.
- Scout to prevent wasting resources. In knowing what your enemy is training, you can train the units that counter it, thus doing as much damage as you can.
- Don't rely on God Powers to protect you. They may help, but they can only last once (unless you are playing as Atlanteans).
- Claim as many settlements as you can! Don't worry about your villagers dying! Just wall up the settlement or guard it to prevent enemies from claiming it. The more settlements you have, the less population your enemies have, forcing them to train a weaker army. There are enough settlements on a regular map for each person to have 3 in all. The only exception is sudden death, where you only get one.
- Use the bonuses your major god gives you. If you're Zeus, use hoplites more often, since they are more powerful against buildings.
- The larger the force, the more effective it is. For example: toxotes counter hoplites. But if you train 30 hoplites, they can easily kill 15 toxotes, especially if you lure them closer to your soldiers.
- Build walls to defend key points and to push forward on the map. A good trick for early game is to form a wall with buildings you had to make anyway to create a "choke point" where enemy troops will funnel in and die to towers.
- Walls are very useful, especially if you're Egyptian. They are very annoying to enemies since they have good armor and hitpoints. However, you may want to build some towers behind them so you can damage enemies in addition to slowing them down. Walling in your towers with walls or houses is a good way to protect your village in early game.
- If you're playing a deathmatch, attempt to wall up your enemies' towns. That way, they can't escape and dodge you until you resign from boredom. Also, ceasefire is an effective way to wall up your enemies' towns, as they can't attack you.
- Don't spend too long in the Classical Age. You may think it is best to incessantly attack early to force your enemy to resign, but it is usually anything but. If you're going to attack in the Classical Age, do it once or twice with a small force to see what damage you can do, which may actually be a fair bit, but that's it. Otherwise, get to the Heroic Age as soon as you can. Staying too long in the Classical Age often means you will spend too much resources attacking the enemy incessantly or defending your city from attack ,and therefore be unable to advance to the Heroic Age. Your soldiers will be Medium class with copper equipment at best. Meanwhile, you will be continually berated by enemy troops who are of higher class and have bronze or iron equipment.
- If the enemy is attacking your allies city and you're in the Classical Age, it may be best to leave them be. Spending resources to establish a military force in the Classical Age will make you unable to advance to the next Ages, so your troops will be weak. You should definitely make troops in the classical age if you aren't completely focused on advancing to Heroic quickly though.
- Make sure you have enough troops to guard your city. If you lack resources to defend your town, you need more villagers.
- If you don't advance fast enough or build an army quickly enough, you may lose.
- Never forget to replace soldiers when they die. If you don't, enemies will attack and destroy you. Economy is great to focus on, but you have to balance it with your military. No economy = no military, but no military = you lose.
Warnings
- If you wait until the very last minute to train troops, your enemy can take your city very easily.
