Know if You Should Go out With Him As a Teen
You're in heaven just flirting and crushing on this guy who you are almost going out with. You just aren't sure if you'll stay in heaven once you're in a relationship with him. Is he the one for you? Find out!
Steps
- Make a list of pros and cons about him. If the pros over-do the cons, it means you can deal with the bad things because the good things matter the most. While making the list, don't be too harsh on the cons! Try to keep away from annoying habits, like "nibbles on his nails too much".
- This is probably the biggest one of all: Does he make you feel good about yourself? If he compliments you, or tries to make you smile when you're sad, he's a keeper. But if he insults you and yells at you, throw that sucker away.
- If you can be yourself around him and feel comfortable with being yourself, then you know you can start a real relationship. You can never have chemistry with someone who you can't even express yourself with!
- You know he's right if he's patient with you. Signs of yelling, continuous teasing, and criticizing you means he's not patient at all. No, it means that he doesn't like you or respect you in any way.
- Does he try to show you off to all his friends? Or does he hide you like you don't exist? If you said yes to the first one, he's capable of being a good boyfriend. When he shows you off to his friends, it's a symbol of pride to him that he's with the most amazing girl in the world. If not, he's just trying to not seem so "sprung"!
- If he lies to you or doesn't tell you something just to make you happy, he isn't stable enough. Don't get me wrong: he does like you, but he doesn't like you enough to be open & honest with you, which is a key in relationships.
- Does he care about your appearance too much? If this guy changes his feelings with you because you aren't wearing any makeup, he's not the one for you. A good boyfriend will like you for who you are, whether you look a model or have sack over your head.
- Does he pressure you into doing stuff you don't want to? If he does, it means that he likes the thought of a hot hook-up more than a stable relationship. Don't rush to do things you don't want to do, you're only a teenager!
- Is he willing to make changes for you? It's a pretty big key to relationships. Relationships require good work and people change constantly to make each other happy. If he's not willing to do that for you, it means he doesn't care very much, and you need someone that cares.
Warnings
- Don't be afraid to like him if his not the cutest guy. Remember you're not literally the prettiest girl either, so don't be too picky. No one is perfect, and for a relationship to work it just takes time. You should date him and see how it goes, you have nothing to lose.
- Don't get too scared to go out with him. Relationships take time, and they can always get better once you're in one!
- If he's actually starting to hit you or abuse you, ask someone for help. & to answer your question, he does NOT like you if he does such things.
- Try not to be so anal about it with him. Don't lecture him and say "Will you do this huh!?" If you'd like to take the same approach, do it differently. Have a conversation about it, ask if he's ready.
