Make Chocolate Covered Strawberry Jello Shots

Crème de cacao and strawberry gelatin combine to create the flavors of the chocolate covered strawberry Jello shot. To make the shot even more delicious and to add flair, this recipe calls for serving the shot inside actual chocolate covered strawberries.

Ingredients

Servings: 16

Edible Shot Glasses

  • 16 large strawberries
  • 4 oz. (113 g) semisweet chocolate, melted

Chocolate-covered Strawberry Jello Shot

  • 1 4 oz. (113 g) package strawberry Jello
  • 1 cup (240 ml) water, boiling
  • 1 cup (240 ml) crème de cacao

Steps

Make the Edible Shot Glasses

Choose the largest strawberries that you can find for these edible shot glasses. Larger strawberries will be both easier to hull and easier to fill with your shot mixture.

  1. Cover a baking sheet with wax paper.
  2. Rinse the strawberries clean.
  3. Cut the tops off of the strawberries using a paring knife.
  4. Scoop out the innards of the strawberry. Be careful when doing this, just remove enough to make room for at least one scoop of the jello shot.
  5. Trim the bottom of the strawberries so that the bottom is flat, using your paring knife. Be careful not to cut too remove too much of the bottom; cut just deeply enough that the strawberry can stand up on its own.
  6. Dip the bottom of each strawberry in melted chocolate. You can dip it as far as you want, depending on how much of the strawberry you want coated with chocolate.
  7. Stand the dipped strawberries up on the baking sheet.
  8. Carefully transfer the tray into the fridge and refrigerate the strawberries for 15 to 30 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened.

Make the Shot

For a variation, you can also use a dark chocolate liqueur instead of the crème de cacao. If you use dark chocolate liqueur, then dip your strawberries in melted dark chocolate as well to compliment the flavors.

  1. Dissolve the Jello in the boiling water, stirring with a whisk until the Jello is distributed throughout the water.
  2. Add the crème de cacao, stirring with the whisk.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool slightly before pouring portions into your edible shot glasses using a tablespoon. Be careful not to overfill the strawberries because the gelatin will expand as it sets.
  4. Place the shots back in the refrigerator and chill them for 2 to 4 hours or until the Jello has solidified.
  5. Serve and Enjoy.

Tips

  • If you don’t want to make the edible shot glass, simply serve the shot itself in 1 oz. (30 ml) paper shot glasses.
