Make Friendship Bands Using Wool
Friendship day is round the corner but you just don't have the time or money to go and buy friendship bands for all your friends? Don't freak out! You could make your very own personalized friendship bands, using cheap materials easily available at home or the local crafts store! This gift is the perfect symbol to give to some of your best friends or just wear for yourself.
Steps
- Search around the house or visit your local crafts store for some brightly coloured wool. You could choose as many colours as you like and even look for cute beads or any other decorative material.
- Take three 8" long pieces of different colours that complement each other and make a neat knot at the very top.
- Take the thread on the extreme left and bring it between the other two threads.Then take the one on the extreme right and bring it between the other two. Keep doing this until you get a braid.
- Knot it neatly at the end and cut off the excess.
- Make as many as you want, and be sure to give yourself one.......for needless to say, you are your own best friend!
- Another way is to take a thick black string and make sure it goes around your wrist and a bit more longer.
- Make a knot some distance down it.Then insert any colored bead into it.Then again make a stiff knot.
- Do this again and again for inserting multiple beads as per your wish.
- Your multi-colored/beaded friendship band is ready.
- Finished.
Tips
- Wear your own jewelery to school and flaunt it! You'll feel great wearing it because there would be only one piece of jewelery like that in the whole universe, and you'll be the one wearing it(well, unless you've given an identical piece to your best friend!).
- After some time, you could graduate to friendship rings, anklets and even necklaces!
- You might not get the technique right in the beginning, but soon you'll be braiding away in no time! Keep yourself motivated and be sure to practice.
- As you get better at making friendship bands, you could add cool designs, pretty beads or even lettered beads for those special friends.
