Make Fruit Custard

Fruit custard has an unfair reputation of being a rather boring dessert. Not true. Fruit custard is a simple, tasty, and relatively healthy dessert option that harkens back to an earlier time. If you have great-tasting fruit, your custard can't go wrong. Experiment with different exotic fruits, as well as different combinations, to learn a wonderful new technique and start turning eyes.

Ingredients

Method 1:

  • 2 cups of milk
  • 3 teaspoons of custard powder
  • 6-8 teaspoons of sugar
  • Half cup of mixed fruits (apple, banana, strawberry, grapes, pomegranate etc.)

Method 2:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons of custard powder
  • Sugar to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed cardamom seeds
  • 1/2 cup chopped apple, sliced banana
  • Some pomegranate seeds
  • Red and green cherries for garnish

Steps

Mixed fruits fruit custard

  1. Pour milk in a saucepan and start heating over a medium high heat.
  2. Combine the custard power and a very small amount of water in a small bowl. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Add this mixture to boiling milk, stir continuously.
  4. Add sugar as the milk starts to thicken. Continue stirring.
  5. Remove the mixture from the heat when it reaches the desired consistency.
  6. Allow the mixture to thoroughly cool.
  7. Add chopped fruits and nuts.
  8. Chill in refrigerator for half an hour.
  9. Serve.

Cardamom and pomegranate fruit custard

  1. Boil and cool the milk. Add sugar to it, as much as you need to sweeten it to your liking.
  2. Add the custard powder to 2 tablespoons of milk in a bowl. Mix to make a paste.
  3. Add the mixed paste to the remainder of the milk. Return to the heat and cook over a low heat/fire for 5 to 10 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.
  4. Remove from the heat. Add crushed cardamon seeds to it. Allow to cool.
  5. Add chopped apple, sliced banana and pomegranate seeds to the cooled custard.
  6. Serve in an attractive dish. Garnish with red and green cherries.
  7. Finished.



Tips

  • Garnish with mint leaves or nuts or cherries.
  • Mix 2 tbsp of vanilla custard powder with 3 tbsp of warm milk and make a smooth paste without any lumps.
  • Add dates cut into small pieces and reduce the sugar. It gives a different but good taste.
  • Use custard powder of your favourite flavour.
