Make Mint Chutney in Andhra Style
Chutneys are very popular in Andhra Pradesh. There are varieties of it. In this article, you will see how to make the mint chutney.
Ingredients
- 250 grams Fresh Mint leaves
- 25 grams Whole and Dried Red Chilies
- 10 grams Tamarind Pulp
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 1 teaspoon Split White lentils
- 1 teaspoon Asafoetida powder
- 1 tablespoon Salt
- 10 grams Water
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 2 sprigs of Curry leaves
Steps
- Clean and wash the fresh mint leaves.
- Add whole and dried red chilies in a frying pan.
- Dry roast fry the chilies. Keep them in a plate.
- Add a bunch full of mint leaves in the frying pan.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of oil and stir fry the leaves.Add more leaves.
- Allow the leaves to cool down for some time.
- Add mint leaves and red chilies in a jar of the mixer grinder.
- Add salt.
- Add tamarind pulp.
- Add water.
- Grind them together.
- Add more water if required to grind the above mixture.
- Blend them together in the mixer grinder.
- Place the chutney in a bowl and sprinkle asafoetida powder.
- Make the Andhra seasoning and add curry leaves.
- Pour over the asafoetida powder to get the flavor.
- Mix well and serve in a bowl. This might be used to eat with dosas or idlis or rice or apply it on a bread toast or roti.

- Do not store it for more than 5 days.
