Make Nickelodeon Slime

Nickelodeon keeps its exact recipe for the network’s iconic green slime under lock-and-key. Executives did reveal that the slime originally contained a mixture applesauce, vanilla pudding, oatmeal, and green food coloring.[1] Instead of waiting for Nickelodeon to reveal the secret ingredients, make your own green slime at home. Create an edible, non-toxic slime or produce a glow-in-the-dark green slime concoction.

Steps

Making Jell-O Based Slime

  1. Gather the ingredients and tools. When creating Jello-O based Slime, you will need the following ingredients:
    • 1 Five Gallon Bucket
    • 6 large packages Jell-O
    • 9 Pounds Flour
    • 8 Ounces Johnson’s Baby Shampoo
    • 1 1/2 Gallons Water
    • Green Food Coloring
  2. Combine the Jell-O, flour, and water in a 5-gallon bucket. This recipe makes 3 gallons of gooey green slime. To make the mixing process less messy, combine the ingredients in a 5-gallon bucket.
    • Open the 6 large Jell-O packages and empty the contents into the bucket.
    • Pour in 4 ½ pounds flour.
    • Add 1 gallon of water.
    • Whisk the mixture thoroughly until all lumps are removed.
  3. Add the remaining flour and water. Achieving the ideal slime consistency is tricky. Go slow and check the texture constantly.
    • Add the remaining 4 ½ pounds flour to the mixture and stir.
    • Gradually add the remaining ½ gallon of water while continuing to stir. Periodically lift the whisk out of the bucket. Observe how the slime drips from the utensil. If the mixture appears liquid and runny, continue to stir. If the mixture holds together as it slowly runs down the spoon and into the bowl, it is ready.
  4. Add the Johnson’s Baby Shampoo and green food coloring. Pour 8 ounces of Johnson’s Baby Shampoo into the 5-gallon bucket. Add several drops of green food coloring to the mixture. Stir until the slime turns green.
    • Add more green food coloring if needed.

Making Cornstarch Based Slime

  1. Gather the ingredients and tools. Before making cornstarch based Slime, gather the following ingredients and tools:
    • Sealable Sandwich Bags
    • Small Bowls
    • 1 Cup Cornstarch
    • 1 Cup Water
    • Green Food Coloring
  2. Combine the ingredients in the sealable bag. This non-toxic green slime is easy to make and fun to play with!
    • Unseal your sandwich bag.
    • Measure 1 cup cornstarch. Pour the cornstarch into the bag.
    • Measure 1 cup water. Pour the water into the bag.
    • Add 3 to 5 drops of green food coloring to the mixture. Always feel free to add more or less food coloring.[2]
  3. Seal the bag and shake. Carefully seal the sandwich bag. Use one hand to shake the bag. This will combine all of the ingredients into a green paste. Switch hands as needed.

  1. Gather the ingredients and tools. In order to create Borax based slime, you will need the following ingredients and tools:
    • 2 Mixing Bowls
    • 1 teaspoon Borax
    • 1 ⅓ Cups Hot Water
    • 2 Cups White School Glue
    • 1 ½ Cups Hot Water
    • Green Food Coloring
  2. Combine borax and hot tap water. This green slime recipe produces the ideal, runny goop. Begin by retrieving a mixing bowl, a teaspoon, and a measuring cup.
    • Measure 1 teaspoon borax. Pour the borax into the mixing bowl.
    • Measure 1 ⅓ cups hot tap water. Pour the water into the mixing bowl.
    • Mix the water and borax together with a spoon. Mix thoroughly.[3]
  3. Combine white school glue, hot tap water, and green food coloring. Retrieve a second mixing bowl.
    • Measure 2 cups white school glue. Place the glue into the mixing bowl.
    • Measure 1 ½ cup hot tap water. Add the water to the bowl.

    • 1 Large Mixing Bowl
    • Liquid Starch
    • White School Glue
    • Green Food Coloring
  2. Measure out equal parts glue and liquid cornstarch. This fabulous green slime recipe calls for equal parts white school glue and liquid cornstarch.
    • First determine how much slime you would like to make. You could make anywhere from ¼ cup to over 1 gallon of slime!
    • Measure 1 part white school glue. Pour the glue into a large mixing bowl.
    • Measure 1 equal part liquid starch. Pour the starch into the mixing bowl.[4]
  3. Stir slightly before adding green food coloring. Slowing stir the mixture until the glue and liquid starch start to congeal. Stop stirring and add 3 to 5 drops of green food coloring. Resume stirring and add more color if needed.[4]
  4. Stir until the mixture forms a green slime. Continue to stir the mixture for several minutes. Occasionally hold the spoon above the bowl to test the consistency.
    • If the mixture appears liquid and runny, continue to stir.

Making Glow-in-the-Dark Slime

  1. Gather the ingredients and tools. Before creating glow-in-the-dark slime, collect the following ingredients and tools:
    • Disposable Cups
    • Sealable Sandwich Bags
    • ¾ teaspoon Polyvinyl Alcohol
    • ½ Cup Water
    • ⅛ teaspoon Green Glow Paint
    • ¾ teaspoon Borax Powder
    • ½ Cup Warm Water
  2. Make a PVA solution. To create glow-in-the-dark slime, you must first create a PVA solution.
    • Measure ¾ teaspoon polyvinyl alcohol. Pour it into a disposable cup.
    • Measure ½ cup water. Pour the water into the disposable cup.
    • Stir the mixture until the ingredients are combined.
  3. Combine the PVA solution with glow paint. The addition of green glow paint causes the slime to illuminate in the dark.
    • Unseal a sandwich bag.
    • Measure 2 teaspoons PVA solution and pour it into the bag.
    • Measure ⅛ teaspoon green glow paint. Add the paint to the PVA solution in the bag.
    • Seal the bag well. Squish the contents with your fingers to combine the PVA solution with the paint.[5]
  4. Create a borax solution. In a separate bag, produce a borax solution.
    • Unseal a new bag.
    • Measure 3/4 teaspoon borax powder and pour it into the bag.
    • Measure ½ cup warm water. Pour the water into the bag with the borax.

  5. Combine the two solutions. The glow-in-the-dark slime is a mixture of the PVA-paint solution and the borax solution.
    • Retrieve and new sandwich bag and unseal it.
    • Pour 2 tablespoons PVA-paint solution into the bag.
    • Pour 2 teaspoons borax solution into the bag.
    • Seal the sandwich bag. Combine the solutions by kneading the contents of the bag.[5]
  6. Charge the slime and watch it glow. Allow the slime to charge for a few hours. Set the bag in a windowsill or near a light. Take the slime into a dark room or bring it outside at night to watch it glow.[5]

Making Edible Green Protein Slime

  1. Gather the ingredients and tools. When creating edible green protein slime, you will need the following ingredients:
    • 1 Cup Spinach
    • 1 scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
    • ¼ to ⅓ Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk

    • 1 14 ounce can Sweetened Condensed Milk
    • 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
    • Green Food Coloring
  2. Combine the ingredients in a medium sized saucepan. This sweet green slime contains sweetened condensed milk, cornstarch, and green food coloring. It is safe to consume.
    • Open the 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk with a can opener. Pour the contents of the can into the saucepan.
    • Measure 1 Tablespoon cornstarch. Add the cornstarch to the saucepan.[7]
