Oreo cookie truffle

  1. Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs.
  2. Mix 3 cups of the cookie crumbs and the cream cheese until it's well blended.
  3. Shape the mixture into 42 1-inch (2.5cm) balls. Place each ball onto a baking sheet covered in Wrap a Sandwich in Wax Paper.
  4. Melt the chocolate.
    • Stir the melted chocolate with a toothpick.
  5. Dip the balls in the melted chocolate. Return them to the wax-paper covered baking sheet. To coat them in the melted chocolate, use a candy or truffle dipper, or use two forks to roll each Oreo ball until it is evenly coated.
    • Remove the dipper/forks from the balls and allow the excess chocolate from the balls to briefly drip back into the bowl before placing them onto the baking sheet.
  6. Chill the Oreo truffles. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until the balls are firm.
  7. Serve and enjoy!

Oreo Nutella truffle

  1. Put the Oreo cookies in a zipper bag. Use a rolling pin to crush them until there are no big chunks.
  2. Transfer the crushed Oreo cookies to a large mixing bowl.
    • Keep adding cream cheese until the mixture feels like play dough.
  3. Roll the dough into the shape of a small sphere. Keep making balls until the mixture is used up. Arrange on a parchment-lined tray or dish.
  4. Place the truffles in the freezer for 7-12 minutes.
  5. Heat some Nutella in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave. This will turn the Nutella into a gooey mixture to serve as a coating.
  6. Take the chilled truffles from the freezer. Dip the truffles into the Nutella, coating thoroughly.
  7. Arrange back on the parchment-covered tray or dish.
  8. Transfer it back in the freezer. Freeze for 10-15 minutes, or until the truffles have firmed up and the Nutella coating has set.
  9. Remove from the freezer. The truffles are now ready to serve.
    • Keep uneaten truffles in a cool place, preferably chilled, inside an airtight container. Eat within 3 days.
  10. Finished.

Tips

  • Keep refrigerated when not consuming. Use an airtight container to prevent cross-contamination with less appetizing fridge odors.
  • Using Hershey's bars of cookies and cream chocolate, you can melt the bars, dip the Oreo balls, and complete as usual and you have yourself a Cookies and Cream Oreo Truffle.
  • Oreo truffles taste great frozen as well as fresh.
  • If you're making a vegan version, just substitute with vegan cream cheese, vegan semi-sweet chocolate chips, and vegan sandwich cookies.
  • After shaping Oreo mixture, it is best to freeze them for about 3 hours or until frozen, this will make it easier to dip in the chocolate and will also give a rounder, cleaner appearance.

Warnings

  • Oreo truffles are very rich! For those with high cholesterol, or diabetes, only eat a couple of truffles at a time.
