Make Super Easy Sweet Chili Marinade
This is a really easy way to make a tasty sauce for a BBQ, a frying pan, a griddle. You can use it on most meats, but chicken and prawns work best.
Ingredients
- Chicken fillets, or prawns
- Honey (the clear runny type; squeezy is easiest)
- Chili, (very finely sliced and correctly prepared)
Steps
- Take the chilies and shake them to release the seeds. Cut the top of the chili off, and run your knife down the length of the chili. Lay the chili flat, and use the blade of your knife to scrape out seeds from within the chili then slice the chili very finely, as small as you can manage. Take your chicken and cut it to the size you require.
- Place the chili in a large mixing bowl, and add a generous squeeze of honey. Mix them, just so the chili is evenly distributed within the honey.
- Add the chicken or prawns to the mixture, and leave to marinade. It doesn't need to be long, just so the meat absorbs the flavour.
- Place the marinated meat into a frying pan, griddle, or BBQ, and cook until the chicken is cooked through
- Serve.
Tips
- Buy fillets of chicken, and pre-prepared prawns. It makes it a lot easier later on
- Use pre-prepared chili 'puree' and just add to the honey as before.
Warnings
- Be careful when using sharp knives
- Be careful when handling chilis and cooking on a frying pan, BBQ or griddle.
