Make Your Own Android Ringtones

Ringtones sound when you get a call in general, or a call from a particular specified contact. One effective way to make your own ringtones on Android is to use an app to create the ringtone from an MP3 file you have.

Steps

Downloading the App

  1. Search for "ringtones" in the Play Store App. Select the "MP3 ringtone maker" app or a similar one.
  2. Install the app on your phone by clicking "Install." Open the app with the "open button" when it appears.

Using the App

  1. Click "Search" to look for ringtones online.
  2. Type in a term to search for, and then click the spyglass to search. Select one of the entries to download it.
  3. Click "back" to go back to the main menu, and then click "Ringtone Maker."
  4. Select an MP3 file in the ringtone maker app that you want to turn into a ringtone.
  5. Click the save button in the bottom right to save the tone. You can move the scroll bar left or right to isolate the exact part of the file you want.
  6. Click the "save" option to save the ringtone. Select "Make default" to change the ringtone on your phone to the one you just made.

Tips

  • You can select any MP3 file on your phone to turn into ringtone, including any file you've recorded yourself provided that it's in the MP3 format.
  • The "Assign to contact" button lets you alternatively use the new ringtone for only one particular contact without changing the overall default tone.

Warnings

  • Remember that the ringtone you make will be audible to others in your area so try not to choose offensive tones.
  • Sometimes the database of other ringtones that you look up in the app can be illegal-make sure you check before downloading.
