Make a "V" Boxed Friendship Bracelet

Have you ever wanted to make a friendship bracelet that looks like a boxed "V"? You might be making one for your family, friends, relatives or yourself. Luckily, the process of making it is easy!

Steps

  1. Select five colors of string. Embroidery floss works best and can usually be found at a craft store.
  2. Pick a color, and cut a piece long enough to wrap around your wrist four times.
  3. Pick your other four colors and cut them the same way.
  4. Put your five strings together and fold them in half so there's a loop at the bottom. Tie a knot at the top (where there isn't a loop) about 2"-3" (5-8cm) from the end. This leaves room for tying it together around your wrist when you're done.
  5. Get a clipboard and clip the knot under the metal thing, or put a safety pin through the knot and pin it to your pants or shoe.
  6. Take the strings and separate them one by one. It doesn't matter what order they're in. If you're a beginner, it will probably get tangled. Just keep trying.
  7. After you separate the strings, put your right index finger in the loop to the far right and your right middle finger in the 2nd loop to the right. Then put your left index finger into the far left loop, your left middle finger into the 2nd to the left loop, and left ring finger in the 3rd to the left loop.
  8. Now take your right RING finger (hint: it's empty) and weave it through the loops on your left hand like this: On your LEFT RING FINGER come down from the top through the middle of the loop and under the one strand towards your middle finger.
  9. LEFT MIDDLE FINGER: come down from the top again through the middle of the loop and under the one strand towards your pointer finger.
  10. LEFT POINTER FINGER: reach across the top of both strands and pick up the one strand near your thumb in the crook of your right ring finger.
  11. Holding on to that strand, pull the loop off of your left pointer finger, and through the two other loops. You will now have 3 loops on your right hand and 2 on your left.
  12. Now move the loops up on your left hand by putting your left index in the left middle loop (transferring the middle finger loop on to the pointer finger) and the left middle finger in the left ring finger loop. Your left ring finger should now be free.
  13. Repeat step 8-11 with the hands reversed, weaving your LEFT ring finger through the three loops on your right hand. Then shift the right hand loops up to your pointer and middle finger.
  14. Keep repeating steps 8-12 until your bracelet seems long enough, or you're almost out of string.
  15. Once your bracelet is done, drop your fingers out of the strings and tie them together in a knot. Trim the end so that there's about 2 or 3 inches of string left after the knot. Then, tie it around your wrist!
  16. Finished.

Tips

  • This is the same thing as a fishtail braid. If you know how to make a fishtail you don't have to make those loops at the end. Just do the same thing you do with hair.
  • Don't get frustrated if it doesn't turn out perfect the first few times. Just practice.
  • After you have mastered the five string, you can move on to six or seven strings, they're the same thing except with more strings.
  • Do exactly what the instructions say without questioning them. It doesn't look like anything at first, but keep going, it will become your bracelet.

Warnings

  • Don't cut the string at the ends of the bracelet too short because then you won't be able to tie it around your wrist.
