Make a Bad Haircut Look Better

No need for hats, scarves or a paper bag! There are endless things you can do to spice up a bad haircut. Follow the steps below to learn how.

Steps

  1. Go shorter. Cut your bangs (if you have any) into little pixie-like spikes if your bangs are cut too short. Use hair gel to make a pointy, punk looking style.
  2. Add extra-strength gel (or pomade) if your hair is too short all over. Wet your hair with cold water and turn your head upside down. After that, blow dry it to add plenty of volume. Tousle with your fingers to change the shape of the cut.
  3. Use hot hair rollers or a curling iron. This will give your hair a lot of shape, volume, and movement if your hair ended up like a "bob", or a very short cut.
  4. Prepare yourself to use more styling products and ask your hairdresser for suggestions since short styles are more structured than longer styles.
  5. Look in magazines or online for inspiration. Handfuls of stars and everyday people get a bad haircut sometime. Don't feel stressed out.

Tips

  • Do not try to change nature. If your hair is curly, wear it curly. You will look better and be less frustrated.
  • Find the best hair cut for your hair's texture. Fine hair can be worn shorter very easily, since it can look limp and flat if left too long.
  • Put vinegar and milk in your hair to make it softer.
  • Only go a slight shade different from your natural color or your hair may look dyed and cheap.
  • Put hairspray in your hair when it is wet.
  • Don't stress about it. Hair grows back, you can always have it re-styled!
