Make a Bottle Cap Choker

Have you ever seen someone on the street wearing a pretty novelty bottle cap choker? There are many ways to make these at home out of many things you can find at home or at a craft store. Here are a couple of the methods.

Steps

  1. Find an old, thin belt you don't use anymore. Fit it around your neck by wrapping it very loosely around your neck, and seeing if you can fit in 2 of your fingers.
  2. Once you've done that, cut it to the length of your neck plus the two fingers.
  3. If you want it to look really nice around the back, round the ends of the belt fraction with scissors
  4. Stitch on a metal fastener of your choice with a needle and thick thread. It must be sturdy. You can find these at your local craft store.
  5. Put on the bottle caps. You can do one of the following methods; the first is easier but they won't stick on as well as the second.
    • 1. Stick the bottle caps on with a hot glue gun, and show your new choker off to your friends!.
    • 2. Get some thumb tacks and hot glue gun their tops onto the backs of the bottle caps. Push them in and flatten the points down onto the back of the belt, and you now have own pretty new choker!
  6. Finished.

Tips

  • Colorful beer bottle caps are pretty and easy to use, as they are a bit flat. Heineken is a good kind of bottle cap to use.
  • For it to be very pretty, make sure the bottle caps touch each others' sides.
  • For added safety, you can sand off the pointy tips of the thumb tacks before you flatten them.

Warnings

  • Always have adult supervision while doing crafts that involve pointy stuff, hot stuff, and stuff that; if not used properly, these things can hurt you.
  • If you plan on wearing your bottle cap choker to school, make sure it has no beer bottle caps on it, because many schools ban advertising of alcoholic drinks.
  • Make sure that the choker is not tight around your neck, as this could cause choking, cut off circulation and/or breathing, or other health problems.
