Make a Crock Pot Marble Cake

Ingredients

  • One box of chocolate cake mix (pre-made)
  • 
One box of vanilla cake mix (pre-made)

  • Pure vegetable oil (amount used depends on cake mix) 

  • Non-stick cooking spray

  • 6 ounces (170g/0.75 cup) of sour cream

  • 6 large eggs

  • Frosting and decorations

Steps

  1. Place the pre-made chocolate cake mix into one large mixing bowl. Use a whisk to break up lumps within the mix, until smooth. Add 1 ¼ cups of water, ⅓ cup of Properly Cook With Oils, 3 large eggs and 3 ounces (85g) of sour cream into the cake mix. Use the whisk to mix the ingredients in the large bowl until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
  2. Place the pre–made vanilla cake mix into one large mixing bowl. Use the whisk to break up the lumps in the mix, until smooth. Add 1 ⅓ cups of water, ⅓ cup of vegetable oil, 3 large eggs and 3 ounces (85g) of sour cream into the cake mix. Use the whisk to mix the ingredients in the large bowl until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
  3. Apply non–stick cooking spray in the crock pot, and pour the chocolate cake mix inside.
  4. Add the vanilla cake mix into the crock pot.
    • Using a thin knife, slowly mix the batters together in a swirl-like motion.
  5. Turn the crock pot on high for 4 hours, or on low for 6-8 hours. Leave to bake until the cake mix has become moist,spongy and the top is a light brown.
  6. Turn the crock pot off and let the cake sit for about 45 to 60 minutes, to allow the cake adequate time to cool and settle.
  7. Take out the removable bowl containing the cake. If the bowl is non-removable, rotate the crock pot upside with help from someone else, to remove the cake. Place the cake on a plate with a large surface.
  8. Frost and decorate your crock pot cake and enjoy.

Tips

  • Follow the directions of the boxed pre-made cake mix.
  • The cake may be removed from crock pot after 45 minutes to an hour – if the cake is still hot, place the crock pot cake in the fridge for an additional 20 minutes to speed up the cooling process.
  • The flavors of cake mixes used for this recipe may vary as preferred.
  • Don’t forget to place the lid on top of the crock pot!

Warnings

  • Do not pre-heat the crock pot!
  • Use oven mitts to remove the bowl from crock pot, in order to avoid getting burned.
