Make a Frozen Mudslide

This frozen variation of the mudslide cocktail is easy to make and refreshing to drink. It's a popular (and expensive) drink at a chain restaurant, but with these instructions, you won't have to go out in order to enjoy one.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce (28 grams or 30 mL) of your favorite vodka
  • 1/2 ounce (17 grams or 15 mL) Kahlua
  • 1/2 ounce (15 grams or 15 mL) Bailey's Irish Cream
  • 1 cup (237 mL) milk
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons (30 to 45 mL) French Vanilla coffee creamer
  • Ice cubes
  • note: this is a revamped version. The real version includes vanilla ice-cream.

Steps

  1. Add 1oz (28g) of your favorite vodka, 1/2oz (17g) of Kahlua, and 1/2 oz (15g) of Bailey's Irish Cream to a blender. You can increase or decrease these portions to taste. If you're missing any one ingredient, increase the portions of the others. It won't really be a Mudslide anymore, but who cares, as long as it tastes good?!

  2. Add about 1 cup (237ml) of milk to the blender.

  3. Add 2-3 Tbsp of a French Vanilla Coffee Creamer. This helps make it kicking delicious.

  4. Add enough ice so that it rises about 1 inch (2.5 cm) above the liquid.

  5. Blend until smooth. If the blender gets "stuck," try pulsing for a few seconds, or remove the jug from the base and give it a good swirl.

  6. Garnish your glasses by pouring some chocolate syrup down the sides either straight, to swirly. Be artistic, and remember: Presentation is everything!

  7. Pour the mixture into the glass.
  8. Finished.

Tips

  • An Alternate way to make this delicious concoction is to skip the milk completely and do 4 oz. of Vanilla (or Raspberry) vodka, 4 oz. Kahlua, and 4 oz of Bailey's, and ice. This makes 3-4 killer drinks and you only need one or two each.
  • Never be afraid to use a lot of ice. For those beautifully thick icy drinks, allow the amount of ice to come about one inch above the liquid.
  • A little squirt of chocolate syrup or sauce in the blender adds a nice touch as well.
  • Add your liquid ingredients to the blender before you add your ice.
  • Frozen mudslides are a great way to make use of freezer-burned ice cream.
  • Top with an Oreo cookie to give it that something extra.
  • If you cannot find the French Vanilla Coffee Whitener, try another coffee flavoring source, such as a syrup.
  • Alternatively, try strawberry syrup instead of chocolate. Experiment and have fun!
  • Speed of the blender really isn't that important.
  • This great drink is enjoyed best with great friends.
