Steps

Simple Bloody Mary

  1. Cover the rims of a few glasses with lime juice. Just run one lime wedge around the rims of the glasses.
  2. Dip the rims of the glasses in coarse salt. The salt will stick to the lime juice and will coat the rims.
  3. Combine the ingredients in a tumbler. Place 4 oz. of vodka, 1 cup of tomato juice, 2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce, 3 tbsp. of lemon juice, 2 oz. of dill pickle juice, a dash of Tabasco sauce, 1/2 tsp. horseradish sauce, 1/2 tsp. celery salt, 1 tsp. lemon juice, and a dash of pepper in a tumbler.
  4. Shake all the ingredients in the tumbler. This will combine them well. Shake the tumbler for at least 15-20 seconds.
  5. Fill the glasses with ice.
  6. Pour the beverage into the glasses.
  7. Serve. Place a stalk of celery in each glass for garnish.

Another Simple Bloody Mary

  1. Half fill four tall glasses with ice cubes.
  2. Choose a method for mixing:
    • 1: Put all of the ingredients into the blender. Leave out the ice cubes and celery garnishes. Pulse to mix.
    • 2: Put all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake.
  3. Pour or strain the liquid into the glasses half-filled with ice cubes.
  4. Garnish. Add a celery stalk and a few chopped celery leaves to each glass. Serve.

Spicy Bloody Mary

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of a glass to dampen it.[1]
  2. Dip the top of the rim into coarse salt. The salt will stick to the lime and will provide the perfect bite for the drink.
  3. Add the base ingredients together in a glass. Combine 1 1/2 oz. of high quality vodka, 4 oz. of tomato juice, a dash of celery salt, a dash of freshly ground cracked pepper, 8 shakes of Worcestershire sauce, 1/8 teaspoons of horseradish, and 1-2 dashes of hot sauce together in a glass.
  4. Squeeze a lime wedge into the glass.
  5. Mix all of the ingredients together. Use a stirring spoon to mix all of the ingredients together until they're thoroughly blended.
  6. Place a handful of ice cubes into the glass. Stir the mixture a bit more so it cools down more quickly.
  7. Add one pimento stuffed olive on a toothpick and place it into the glass.
  8. Add garnish. Place a pickled asparagus spear and a picked green bean into the drink to give it an extra kick.
  9. Serve. Enjoy this refreshing and relaxing drink any time.

White Bloody Mary

  1. Place the first few ingredients in a blender. Place 4 chopped green tomatoes, 1 chopped hothouse cucumber, 2 peeled ribs celery, 3 cups seedless green grapes, and 1 seeded japaleño together in a blender. Puree the ingredients.[2]
  2. Line a sieve with cheesecloth over a large bowl.
  3. Pour in the pureed mixture.
  4. Place the bowl in the refrigerator while it strains. Wait for the liquid to be extracted.
  5. Remove the bowl from the refrigerator.
  6. Place 2 tbsp. horseradish, 1 tbsp. superfine sugar, and 2 lime wedges in a pitcher. Muddle these ingredients with a wooden spoon to combine them.
  7. Stir the tomato juice into the pitcher. Stir this juice with the other ingredients to combine them.
  8. Add 2-3 oz. of vodka to the mixture. Throw in two handfuls of crushed ice and stir the ingredients to combine them.
  9. Rub a lime wedge over the rim of three glasses.
  10. Dip the rims into 1 tbsp. salt and 1 tbsp. pepper. The salt and pepper will stick to the lime juice.
  11. Pour the drink into the glasses.
  12. Garnish the Bloody Mary. Place one cucumber spear in each glass. Place 1/2 cup of green grapes in each glass. Some of the drink will remain in the pitcher.
  13. Serve. Enjoy this refreshing and relaxing drink any time.

Southwestern Bloody Mary

  1. Mix the ingredients together in a pitcher.[3]
  2. Chill the mixture until it's cold. This should take at least 2 hours. For best results, you can chill it overnight.
  3. Mix in 2/3 cup of chilled vodka.
  4. Fill 6 tall glasses with ice.
  5. Pour the Bloody Mary mixture over the glasses.
  6. Garnish. Place 1 celery stalk with a leafy top and 1 slit fresh red cherry into every glass.
  7. Serve. Enjoy this refreshing and relaxing beverage.

Tips

  • Have fun with this drink. It's all about experimentation. You can put many other things in it, such as Old Bay spice, Frank's Red Hot and any other kinds of hot sauce you may have. See what flavor combinations you like best, and really make this drink your own.
  • To make a Virgin Mary, omit any alcohol. Could use tonic water in place of alcohol to cut the tomato juice.
  • If you keep your celery in a jar with a bit of vodka and thin tomato juice in the fridge for a few days, it will draw the liquid up into itself and become a flavored garnish.
  • To make a Bloody Maria, replace the vodka with tequila.
  • To make a Bloody Caesar, replace the tomato juice with Clamato juice, or if no Clamato is available, add a dash of clam juice.
  • A drink made with the commercially available "Bloody Mary Mix" is not nearly as tasty as one made with the recipe above. Making your Bloody from scratch each time or in small batches is part of the fun of drinking them.

Warnings

  • Don't drink and drive.
  • Try not to drink too much.
