Make a Pisco Sour

The Pisco Sour is the national cocktail of Peru.

Ingredients

Cocktail Shaker Method

  • 1 egg white
  • 2 1/2 ounces pisco
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • Angostura bitters

Blender Method

  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • 1 tablespoon pasteurized egg white
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, or more to taste
  • 1/4 cup crushed ice
  • 2 ounces Peruvian pisco (1/4 cup)
  • Angostura bitters

Steps

Using a Shaker[1]

  1. Fill the shaker with ice.
  2. Add egg white, pisco, simple syrup, and lemon juice.
  3. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds until frothy and strain.
  4. Add a few drops of bitters.

Using a Blender[2]

  1. Blend the lime juice and sugar until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add pisco, egg white and ice. Blend at high speed until frothy.
  3. Pour into a sour glass.
  4. Add a few drops of bitters.

Tips

  • Chilean pisco is sweeter and has a slightly lower proof than Peruvian pisco.[1]
