Make a Perfect Bourbon and Coke
Do you like Bourbon and Coke? Here is a recipe that will help you concoct the superlative cocktail.
Steps
- Place one Rocks, or Gibraltar style glass on the table.
- Fill 3/4 of the glass with ice. The larger the ice the better, as less surface area means less dilution.
- Pour 1 1/2 oz (45 ml) of your favorite bourbon over the ice.
- Fill glass 1/2 inches (10 mm) from the rim with your favorite "brown" soda. Coca-Cola works the best.
- Squeeze in 1 wedge of fresh lemon or lime and place in the drink and Add one swizzle stick. (For swizzling)
- Guzzle contents, repeat as necessary.
Tips
- When using super premium bourbons, do yourself a favor and only use water or club soda.
- Keep in mind that Bourbon & Coke is just a gateway drink - there is a world of other bourbon cocktails you should explore, once you get a taste for whiskey.
- Larger ice cubes will limit melting and cause the cocktail to be less watered down.
- Jack Daniels is not classified as a bourbon. It is a Tennessee whiskey, which means it is filtered through charcoal.
Warnings
- Don't drink and drive.
- The consumption of alcohol can lead to drunkenness.
- Do not attempt this cocktail if you are not of legal drinking age.
