Make a Shirt Pillow
Need a fancy pillow? Make one from a plain T-shirt.
Steps
- Gather a t-shirt and sewing supplies.
- Lay the t-shirt flat on a table. Remove all wrinkles.
- Cut off the top of the t-shirt. Cut horizontally just below the sleeves, without cutting off the design.
- Cut off the side seams and lower hem. Two pieces of matching rectangular fabric should remain.
- Sew the sides of the rectangle, leaving an opening about 6 inches (right sides facing). Stitch two or three inches away from the edge of the fabric.
- Invert and stuff the pillow with scrap cloth or cotton.
- Stitch the remaining opening. Stitch two or three inches away from the edge of the fabric.
- Make fringe or add preferred final touches if desired. For the fringe, cut vertical slits along all edges of the pillow. Be careful not to cut into the pillow.
Tips
- Make a double row of stitching, if desired
- Stitch entirely by hand, if desired
