Move the Dropbox Folder to a New Location

Steps

Windows and Linux

  1. Click the Dropbox icon located in the system tray. (The system tray by default is located in the bottom right corner of the screen).
  2. Select “Preferences”.
  3. Click the “Advanced” tab. Note: This step is for Windows XP users only. Windows Vista and Windows 7 users can skip this step.
  4. Click “Change…”.
  5. Select a new location on your hard drive.

Mac OS X

  1. Click the Dropbox icon located in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Select “Preferences”.
  3. Click the “Advanced” tab.
  4. Select “Other…” from the Dropbox location drop down menu.
  5. Select a new location on your hard drive.

Tips

Warnings

  • Folders within your Public folder cannot be shared.
