Not Look Awkward when Wearing a Seatbelt

If wearing a seatbelt bothers you, it pays to look at survival statistics for accidents with seatbelts on and with seatbelts off. The figures will convince you that looking a little odd with the belt on is worth it. If it really bothers you still, here are some ideas.

Steps

  1. Color coordinate your outfit with the seatbelt. That way it will not stand out against your clothes and will make it harder to see that you are wearing a seatbelt.
  2. Color the seatbelt. Add funky designs to it to make it cool and interesting. You could stick on decorative items as well, such as sequins or pom-poms.
  3. Look at other people in the car with you. Guess what? You all look the same, so you can all feel awkward together!
  4. Accept the reason for wearing the belt. It is about safety, not looks. People don't worry about how a flak jacket looks, or a safety harness when bungee jumping. There are safety items that say "Wow! I like doing something potentially dangerous but I am taking a sensible precaution to increase my odds of survival." Actually, when you think about it... it's pretty cool.
