Perform a Walk Around on a Cessna 150
The walk-around is the most important part of any flight. Doing a good walk-around is crucial because it is better to find a problem on the ground than in the air.
Steps
- Documents - Check - Make sure all needed documents are in the aircraft.
- First Aid Kit - Check - Make sure first aid kit is on board.
- Fire Extinguisher - Check - Make sure fire extinguisher is properly charged and locked in place.
- Master Switch - On.
- Flaps - Fully extend.
- Fuel Gauges - Check Quantity.
- Master Switch - Off.
- Tie-down Ropes - Remove.
- Foamies and Cowl Cover - Remove.
- Elevators - Check for freedom of movement and damage.
- Rudder - Check for freedom of movement and damage.
- Right Aileron - Check for freedom of movement.
- Right Main Wheel Tire - Check for proper pressure.
- Fuel - Strain to check for water, sediments and for proper fuel grade.
- Fuel Quantity - Check using fuel dipstick.
- Fuel Cap - Tighten.
- Engine Oil - Check quantity - oil must be at least {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} but not more than 6 quarts.
- Fuel - Strain to check for water, sediments and for proper fuel grade.
- Propeller - Check for damage.
- Carburetor Air Filter - Check for blockage by dust and other foreign debris.
- Landing Light - Check condition.
- Nose Wheel Tire/Strut - Check for proper pressure.
- Static Port - Check for blockage.
- Left Main Wheel Tire - Check for proper pressure.
- Fuel Quantity - Check with fuel dipstick.
- Fuel Cap - Tighten.
- Fuel - Strain to check for water, sediments and for proper fuel grade.
- Pitot Tube - Check for blockage.
- Stall Horn Opening - Check for blockage.
- Fuel Tank Vent - Check for blockage
- Left Aileron - Check for freedom of movement
Warnings
- If anything out of the ordinary is noticed, report it to dispatch immediately!
