Pick a Club Penguin Name

Club Penguin is a fun virtual world where you run across many penguins with fun and wacky names. How on earth do people come up with such cool names? You probably wish your penguin could have such a fun name too. Well, here are some tips to cook up a few cool names of your own.

Steps

Getting Started

  1. Create an account. Visit clubpenguin.com. Click “PLAY NOW!” and then click “Create a Penguin.” You’ll choose a penguin color first and then get to the fun part: picking a name.
  2. Know the penguin name requirements. Your name can be 4-12 letters, numbers, or spaces.
  3. Base your name off of a nickname. This is an easy initial option for coming up with penguin nicknames. It could be based on your own nickname or one you wish you had.
    • Use a positive personality trait. If your name is Paul and you’re tall, your name could be “TooTallPaul.” If you’re a good runner, include swift or speedy in your name.
    • Ask your friends. Your friends might have good ideas for you. You can also bounce ideas off of them.
    • Combine names. Mash two names together, like you might do with a first and middle name or first and last name.

Using Your Interests

  1. List your favorite animals. Just because you’re on a penguin site doesn’t mean your name can’t come from a favorite animal! Maybe it’s an animal that’s not even around anymore—like a t-rex, triceratops, or stegosaurus. List your favorite animals and then go from there. Think of fish, lizards, birds, or cool animals you saw at the zoo or on a nature program.
    • Animals can include pets. You can base your name off the name of a favorite pet that you have or that you play with at your grandparents’ house, for example.
  2. Use your favorite sports. The name doesn’t have to be the exact name of the sport itself. If your favorite sport is baseball, for example, think of a name with “grand slam” or “homerun” in it. This works for other sports too. Maybe your name can have one of these words in it: touchdown, hat trick, triple play, or slam dunk.
  3. Think of your hobbies. If you like to paint, your name could have streak, brush, or splatter in it. Maybe you also like rock collecting, trains, or knitting.
  4. Choose a fruit. You might think of using a favorite fruit with a word describing it. For example, maybe it’s pink strawberry or electric razz.
  5. Use a codename. These usually have to do with personality traits and sound mysterious and intriguing. Former Secret Service code names might give you good ideas. Think of something like Smurfette, Renegade, Trailblazer, Phoenix, or Lancer.[1]
    • Try using a codename generator online. Yes, those exist. So, why not?

Spicing Up Your Name

  1. Add emphasis. To add power to your name, you can add terms like these: super, max, mega, ultra, hyper, turbo, ace, epic, or uber.
  2. Consider adding abbreviations. Using cool abbreviations can help too. Consider these: no1, 1st, or aero, for example. You might leave out vowels and do something like fntstc for fantastic or mgnfcnt for magnificent.
  3. Use acronyms. Acronyms are similar to abbreviations and also useful because they’re short. You probably use some of them online already, like brb, lol, awol, and ttyl.[2]
  4. Use alliteration. Alliteration is when you use words next to each other that start with the same letter. So, your penguin could be FunkyFace or SillySquid.
  5. Try rhyming. This is another way to make your name memorable and fun to say. You could be 2cool4school or FunnyBunny.
  6. Make up new spellings. Some names might already be taken, but if you spell yours differently, you can use it. Creative spellings can also make your name more fun. You could use misspellings like kewl, dogg, byke, or suweet.
    • To make something plural, you can use a z instead of an s. Try jamz, tunez, monkeez, or dudez.
  7. Add numbers at the end. To make your name more unique, you can add numbers to the end of it. Maybe it’s your favorite or lucky number, or it could be your dog’s birthday.

Knowing What to Avoid

  1. Avoid words that are close to your name. That's not a good idea since you want to protect your identity online. That’s why you’ll see this warning when you make a Club Penguin account.
  2. Don't include spaces. You can use some spaces if you have to, but don’t use too many. Those aren’t as fun! You also don’t want to have a lot of blank spaces in your name because you don’t pronounce those. You want a name you can say aloud.
  3. Be nice! Don’t make fun of other penguins, and be kind online. You also don’t want to use or suggest naughty language. You’re creative enough to come up with a fun name without having to put anyone down or be rude.

Tips

  • Don't use too many numbers, or people won't be able to say your name because Club Penguin doesn't let you type numbers in the chat bar.
  • If you know a good name from a movie, book, etc, you can use that.
  • Don't use any swear words in your name - you WILL get banned!

Warnings

  • Don't use words that might insult other penguins. They can report you and you might get banned.
