Remove Nudity Censor in the Sims 3

Want your Sims 3 experience to be as realistic as possible? You can use mods to remove the nudity censor from the game. You'll need to be 16 in order to get the necessary files to do so.

Steps

Windows

  1. Create a free account at .sims2xsims.de. This is a modding site dedicated to adult mods for The Sims. You'll need to be 16 or older to visit the page and create an account. You'll need a free account to download the necessary files.[1]
    • Click the "Register" link in the "Content" menu on the right side of the page.
    • Create a username, password, and enter a valid email address. You'll need to verify that you're a real person by completing several small tests.
    • Follow the link in the email you receive to activate your account.
  2. Visit the Sims 3 Censor Grid Remover download page. Once you're logged in, enter the following address into your browser:
    • sims2xsims.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1863#p5850
  3. Click the link for "Windows Version (Installer)." This will begin downloading a ZIP file, which should only take a few moments to finish.
    • If you're running an outdated version of Sims 3, you can find download links for earlier versions of the mod below the current link.
  4. Right-click the downloaded ZIP file and select "Extract All." Follow the prompts to extract the ZIP file into a new folder.
  5. Make sure Sims 3 is closed. Sims 3 needs to be completely closed before you install the mod, or you will encounter some errors. Save your game and close it out before proceeding with the mod installation.
  6. Run the installer that you extracted. Open the new folder and run "xSIMS_The_Sims_3_Censor_Remover." You'll be prompted by Windows to continue.
  7. Follow the prompts to install the mod. The installer should automatically detect where Sims 3 is installed. If it cannot detect your Sims 3 installation, it will prompt you to browse for it.
  8. Check out the results. Start up Sims 3 and see if the mod worked. You should notice no censor when your Sims shower, go to the bathroom, go skinny-sipping, or make love.
  9. Uninstall the mod if you don't want it anymore. If you no longer want the mod installed, you can uninstall it by running the uninstaller.[2]
    • Navigate to the Sims 3 installation directory.
    • Run "xSIMS_TS3_Censor_Remover_Uninstall.exe" to uninstall the mod.

Mac

  1. Register for a free account at .sims2xsims.de. You'll need a free account from this adult modding site in order to download the necessary files for removing the censor. You must be 16 or older to view the site and create an account.
    • Find and click the "Register" link on the right side of the page.
    • Enter a valid email address and then create a username and password.
    • Activate your account by following the link in the verification email you receive,
  2. Open the forum post for the censor removal mod. Once you're successfully logged in, enter the following address into your browser's address bar:

  3. Click the link for "Win & Mac Version (Without Installer)." A ZIP file will begin downloading immediately, and should only take a few moments.
  4. Extract the downloaded ZIP file. Double-click the ZIP file to open and extract the contents to a new folder.
  5. Make sure Sims 3 is not running. Sims 3 will need to be closed before you proceed with the mod installation.
  6. Right-click (.Ctrl-click) the Sims 3 app in your Applications folder and select "Show Package Contents." This will open a new Finder window with the Sims 3 files.
  7. Navigate to the Sims 3 folder. Use the new Finder window to navigate to the following location:
    • Contents → Resources → transgaming → c_drive → Program Files → Electronic Arts → The Sims 3
  8. Drag the "Resource.cfg" file into "The Sims 3" folder. If you are using the World Adventure expansion, place "Resource.cfg" in that expansion's folder as well.
    • If you get a warning that Resource.cfg already exists, make sure to save the original file in a safe place instead of overwriting it. This will allow you to easily uninstall the mod later.
  9. Navigate to the mod packages folder. Use the Finder window to navigate to the following location:
    • Contents → Resources → transgaming → c_drive → Program Files → Electronic Arts → The Sims 3 → Mods → Packages
    • If the Mods and Packages folders do not exists, you can create them.
  10. Place the ."xSIMS_Nude_Censor_Remover.package" file into the Packages folder. This will allow you to use the mod.
  11. Test out the mod. Launch Sims 3 and put your Sim into a compromising situation. You should no longer see the censor when your Sim is showering, skinny-dipping, using the toilet, or making love.
  12. Uninstall the mod when you don't want it anymore. If you no longer want the mod installed, remove the files from the locations you put them in earlier, and restore any original files.
