Remove a Blank Home Screen in Android

After installing and removing multiple apps through regular use of your phone, you may notice that you now have extra blank Home screens that you no longer use. Getting rid of these Home screens can help keep your apps more organized and save you some time when trying to find the app you need.

Steps

Samsung and LG Devices

  1. Tap the Home button to return to your Home screens.
  2. Pinch the Home screen in with two fingers. Use the same gesture as if you were zooming out on a picture or website. This will display all of your pages on the same screen.
  3. Press and hold the page you want to remove.
  4. Drag the page to the "X" at the top of the screen.[1]

HTC Devices

  1. Find a blank spot on your Home screen. This can be any spot between apps, in an open icon spot, or on a blank page.
  2. Press and hold the blank spot. This will open a menu.
  3. Select "Manage home screen panels".
  4. Swipe over until you find the page you want to remove.
  5. Tap "Remove" at the bottom of the screen.

Nova Launcher

  1. Tap the Home button to return to your Home screen.
  2. Tap the Home button again to display miniature versions of all your Home screens. The is the Preview mode.
    • If you've disabled this feature for your Home button, you can access the Home Screen Preview by opening the Nova Settings app, selecting "Desktop", and then selecting "Home Screens". If you are returned to your home screen and nothing happens, do it again and the Preview view should appear.
  3. Tap and hold the screen you want to remove.
  4. Drag the page you want to remove to the "X" at the top of the screen.[2]

Google Launcher

  1. Determine that you have the Google Experience Launcher. This is installed by default on Nexus 5 and newer Nexus devices, and can be installed on other devices as well. You can tell that you are using it by swiping to the left on your Home screen. If the Google Now screen appears when you move all the way to the left, you're using the Google Experience Launcher.
  2. Find the screen you want to remove. Extra screens are deleted automatically when you remove all of the items from it.
  3. Delete any apps on the screen. Press and hold an app icon and then drag it to the trashcan. Repeat this for all the apps on the screen. This will not uninstall the app; it will still be available from the App Drawer.
  4. Delete any widgets on the screen. Press and hold a widget to drag it to the trashcan. Once all of the items on the screen are deleted, the screen will be deleted automatically.[3]

Nexus 7, 10, and Other Stock Devices

  1. Choose-a-Custom-Launcher-for-Your-Android. Older Nexus devices and other older devices using Android 4.4.2 or earlier did not get the Google Now Launcher update, and are locked at five home screens. The only way to get rid of the extra home screens is to install a different launcher.
    • You can install the Google Now Launcher from the Google Play Store.
    • Set-Gesture-Shortcuts-with-Nova-Launcher-on-Android that allows you to delete extra home screens, along with a host of other features.
