Send Faxes from Gmail

Google Chrome now offers the HelloFax application to expand its document services. Once you set up a Gmail account, you can make and store digital faxes with Google Drive. These documents can be sent via fax on HelloFax's Google Chrome application. This article will tell you how to send faxes from Gmail.

Steps

Locate your Document

  1. Sign into your Gmail account. All of your Google products are available under a single Google user name and password.
  2. Click on "Drive" in the drop-down menu that is on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
  3. Upload documents that you want to fax with Google Drive. Click the orange upload button or make a new document with the "Create" button.
  4. Save email attachments to Google Drive, what used to be known as Google Documents. Choose to view the attachment online, instead of downloading it.
  5. Once it has loaded, click the "Add to Drive" button on the top right portion of the page.
  6. Make sure your documents are edited and saved. They will be ready to send when you set up HelloFax.

Download HelloFax for Google Drive

  1. Go to hellofax.com/googledrive.
  2. Click on the "Sign in to Google" button.
    • You can also create an account on Hellofax.com and link your account to Google Drive.
  3. Download the HelloFax Google Chrome application. If you do not currently use Google's browser system, you will want to download Google Chrome before continuing.
  4. Click on the HelloFax application once it is installed. Allow HelloFax to access your Google Drive account.

Fax your Document

  1. Instruct the application to send a fax or request a signature.
  2. Select the file you want to fax from your list of Google Documents on Google Drive.
  3. Edit your document before you send it, if you choose.
    • For full functionality, you will want to scan and upload your signature to your HelloFax account. This will let you add your signature digitally before sending the fax.
  4. Place the fax destination phone number or email in the space provided.
  5. Click "Send."
    • HelloFax offers 50 free pages of faxes before charging for their service. You will need to enter your credit card details on your HelloFax account to send faxes after this point.

Tips

  • HelloFax is also integrated with Box and DropBox, so you can choose documents from these applications as well as Google Drive.
