Set a Bookmark Shortcut in Your Home Screen on Android

As a budding Android user, there probably have been times when you wished you didn't have to type the URL of your most frequently visited websites on your favorite web browser on Android. Well, this won't be a problem anymore. Android provides a simpler process in which you can create a shortcut of the web page on your home screen. It's a feat that makes it much easier and all the while convenient for you to access your fave websites.

Steps

Using the Android 4.2+ Browser

  1. Navigate to your Android web browser. Locate the icon that looks like a globe and tap on it to open.
  2. Go to your website of choice. Enter the name of the website in the text bar and press "Enter" or "Go."
  3. Tap on the Create Bookmark icon. This is the star outline icon to the right of the URL bar. An info box should appear asking you to name the bookmark and where you want it saved.
  4. Tap on the drop-down menu. It can be found on the "Add To" choice.
  5. Tap "Home Screen." You should now see your new bookmark on your home screen.

Using the Dolphin Browser

  1. Launch the Dolphin Browser. You can tap on the browser’s icon from your home screen.
    • Alternatively, you can find the Dolphin Browser app icon in your app drawer.
  2. Tap on the Add Bookmark icon. This is represented by the star icon on the left of the URL bar.
  3. Navigate and hold on one bookmark you want to save on your home screen.
  4. Tap "Add shortcut to Home.." Done! A shortcut to the website will be added to your home screen.

Using Chrome for Android

  1. Launch Google Chrome browser app. Just tap on the Google Chrome icon on your home screen or app drawer.
  2. Go to the website you want to save. Enter the website in the search/text bar and press "Enter."
  3. Tap on the Menu button. The looks of the Menu button will depend on your device; usually it's an app button that looks like three horizontal lines stacked on each other, or it could be accessed through a hardware button on your phone.
  4. Tap "Add to Home Screen." Done! A shortcut to the website will be added to your home screen.

Using Firefox

  1. Launch your Mozilla Firefox app. Just tap on the Firefox icon on your home screen or app drawer.
  2. Go to the site you want to save on your home screen. Enter the name of the website and press "Enter."
  3. Tap and hold the address bar. Some options will appear.
  4. Choose "Add to Home Screen." Done! A shortcut to the website will be added to your home screen.
