Style a Fauxhawk
Do you want a kick butt-hair style? Then try out the faux-hawk!
Steps
- Towel dry your hair. Wet hair will not stay up, and dry hair is very hard to work with. To get this effect, use a towel to dry your hair right after getting out of the shower. It should just be slightly damp.
- Choose a styling product. Any shaping cream, wax, "firm hold gel," or pomade should do, but if you have longer hair you should also be sure and have some hairspray.
- Use your index finger to scoop out some product about the size of a quarter. Rub it between your palms.
- Use a light touch to get your hair to stand up. Do this by running your fingers through the tops of your hair. Be sure to do this to all of your hair. Pay extra attention to the front to ensure it stands straight up.
- Comb the sides diagonally forward with your fingers. This will create more texture than simply combing them vertically.
- Push your hair on the top of your head together. Do this by making a sort of triangle with your hands.
- Use your fingers to comb down hairs sticking up in the back.
- Push the top of the faux hawk forward slightly to create a wavelike motion.
- Grab out of place pieces and twist them upwards. This will help them keep their shape.
- Apply a bit more product to any other places that it's needed.
Tips
- Be ready to devote at least 30 minutes to this if you have curly or wavy hair.
- Make sure it is cream, wax, or pomade and not anything else or this will not work.
- Try using a straighter if you have curly or wavy hair to make it easier to work with.
- This also looks good on black hair with bleached tips (optional)
