Take a Governor off a Club Car Gas Golf Cart
Your Golf While Drinking can travel much faster without a governor. This tells you how to disable the governor.
Steps
- Remove the plastic plate that is located behind the seat. There will be two screws that need to be removed.
- Remove the plastic cover.
- Locate the governor. It looks like a "T" shaped metal piece that will pivot both ways. The silver thicker part of the T is what we need to be disabled.
- Using a rubber band or string, tie the silver part of the T to the metal rod that is located behind it. Tie it tight enough so that the silver side will no longer be able to pivot towards the front of the cart.
- Re-attach the plastic plate and insert the screws.
Tips
- A ziptie will work as well, and will not fall off.
- Using a rubber band seems to be easier than tying a string.
Warnings
- This can mess up your cart if done incorrectly.
- There are many hot surfaces located around the governor, be careful what you touch.
- Running the engine without the governor could lead to engine damage and overheating.
- A cart without a governor is dangerous. Please drive your speedy golf cart responsibly.
- Many golf courses will kick you off if they catch you doing this to one of their carts.
