Train Vendors to Prevent Service of Alcohol to Minors
Alcohol use among teenagers is a growing problem in this country - made worse by the fact that adults so often facilitate it for one reason or another. Responsible vendor alcohol training can help educate servers on how to handle fake i.d.'s or those trying to purchase alcohol for minors.
Steps
- Feel the ID to check for any sign that is has been tampered with.
- Look at the id and patron closely - are they the same person?
- Ask questions of the person presenting the ID if you are suspicious. For example, ask them their birthday. If it is a fake, chances are the person will not be able to tell you.
- Give the ID back regardless of the sale. Only law enforcement are authorized to confiscate fake IDs.
Tips
- Never take chances. You can refuse service to anyone for any reason.
- No sale is worth losing your liquor license or your job.

- Remember that criminal penalties can apply to anyone caught selling or serving to minors - including their own parents.
