Use Emoji Icons in Mac Os X Lion

In OS X Lion, Apple’s latest operating system release for their laptops and desktop computers, the built-in dictionary has received a number of enhancements in order to work with other new features. The new built-in dictionary is now easily accessible from within almost any app via multi-touch gestures new to Lion. This article will walk you through the process of using the new built-in dictionary in Mac OS X Lion.

Steps

  1. Click the “Edit” menu. Select “Special Characters” from the context menu. Note: Not all applications will support special characters.
  2. Use a keyboard shortcut. Alternatively you can press Option+ Command+T on your keyboard to open the Special Characters pane.
  3. Click “Emoji”. You can find it in the left pane of the Special Characters window.
  4. Drag and drop the Emoji icon of your choice into your text. If the program supports it, the emoji will appear where you place it.

Tips

  • You can open Launchpad in OS X Lion using custom shortcuts or hot corners by setting them in System Preferences.
  • Swipe between pages of apps in Launchpad by clicking and holding your mouse while making a swiping gesture left or right, or use a two finger gesture on your trackpad.
  • In MacOS Sierra ver. 10.12.3, to access the emojis, use the Edit button, and then go down to ^ ⌘ + Space.

Warnings

  • OS X Lion is only available as a downloadable upgrade through the Mac App Store.
