Use Reachability on an iPhone

This article teaches you how to enable Reachability on your large-screened iPhone so it's easier to use with one hand.

Steps

Enabling Reachability

  1. Open your iPhone’s Settings. It’s the icon, which you’ll typically find on your home screen.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Accessibility.
  4. Slide the “Reachability” switch to the position. Reachability is now ready to use.
    • If the switch was already on/green, there’s no need to make any changes.

Using Reachability

  1. Unlock your screen. Reachability will not work if the screen is locked.
  2. Lightly double-tap the Home button to start Reachability. Do not press the Home button—just touch it twice as if you’re double-tapping the screen. The screen will then shrink to about half of its height, making it easier to use with one hand.
    • To make the shrunken screen appear at the top of the screen rather than the bottom, tap the black area once.
  3. Double-tap the Home button to exit Reachability. This returns your iPhone’s screen to its normal size.[1]
