Wash an American Girl Doll's Hair

You have had it before. Either your American Girl Doll's hair is greasy, or so dried out you cannot even comb it. This article will tell you how to safely wash your American girl doll's hair.

Steps

  1. Undress your doll and wrap her in one of the small towels. Cover her eyes with a towel, because if they get wet they can rust!
  2. Have her head leaning over the sink and turn on lukewarm water. Begin by rinsing her hair gently and thoroughly. Do this until her hair hair is soaked all the way through.
  3. Squirt a line of shampoo starting at the hairline and going halfway down to the ends. Lather it up gently with your hands so that the shampoo gets in deeply. Start at her hairline and go down to the very ends.
  4. Rinse out the hair by holding it under running lukewarm water until the water coming out of the hair is clear. If it is cloudy you are not done rinsing yet.
  5. Squirt conditioner the same way you squirted the shampoo. Gently massage it into her hair. After you rinse it out, gently comb the hair where the knots are to get them out, but do not comb ALL the hair yet
  6. Get your large towel and wrap the towel around the hair. Do not squeeze the hair, just press lightly on the towel until the hair is generally dry. Then, gently comb through the hair. Lay her somewhere to dry, and Voila! you have washed her hair!

Tips

  • Make sure to check her hair after you dry it for bubbles that you may have missed.
  • Use a very mild shampoo when washing your doll's hair.
  • Do not wash her hair too often or it will get very heavy and greasy.
  • Don't let your doll get wet and never dry her hair with a blow dryer.
  • Never scrub the hair.
  • Don't get her wig wet.
