Ever wanted to work for one of your favorite magazines but don't know where to start? Well, search no more! Continue reading to learn how to find and apply for magazine positions.
Steps
- Decide what magazine(s) you want to work for. There are countless options, so try narrowing your options to those that you enjoy reading or share your same beliefs/ideals.
- Decide what position you would want with the agency of choice. A wide variety of occupations are involved in magazine industries, such as but not limited to:
- Model
- Graphic designer
- Marketing
- Editor
- Photographer
- Hair & Make-up Artists
- Writer
- Visit the desired magazine's webpage. Most websites will have a "Careers" tab or link if they have internships/job openings. Alternatively, search the magazine name followed by careers and click one of the links that seems like the best bet.
- Complete an application online or by mail (whichever way the magazine requires). Schedule an interview if possible, so you can meet with some of their management people and confirm if it is really the best fit for you. Remember to make a good first impression, so look and speak professionally and respectfully! Still be yourself, however.
- Wait for a response from the magazine agency. You might receive information regarding your application by phone, mail, e-mail, etc., so stay alert and be prompt in your communication!
