Be a Good Rogue in World of Warcraft

Rogues are definitely amongst the most powerful classes in the game. They are sly and quick to deal damage. Mastering the rogue will take work, but when done, you can defeat anyone that you choose in a duel. Keep in mind however that one of the greatest assets to a rogue is their ability to sneak up and attack a "mob" by using stealth. Using a rogue means that you bend the rules a little bit about what is considered to be a "fair" fight.

Steps

  1. Obtain powerful weapons. A rogue is a slick damage dealer, so having the right weapons is imperative. Start by completing a few quests, then when at the level of about five, you can venture deeper into the world. Focus on using weapons with a high damage per second, rather than a high damage level. Your damage will average out.
  2. Once your rogue gets to level ten, your character can get many different special abilities from your local Rogue trainer. From there, everything is uphill.
  3. Concentrate on your foes, as many have special abilities that can damage the rogue and cancel out some of your own special abilities.
  4. Know when to use your abilities, such as sprint to run, or kick to interrupt a spell. This will also help with combo selection and organizing your action bars. Sometimes grouping with other people will improve these abilities
  5. If there is a time when you think you need to sap, always ask your group who to sap, and when. They will appreciate a kind "Who should i sap?" and "Should i sap one of these guys". Remember, when in a group, sap will save you. Asking to sap not only tells everyone you are going to do it, but also prevents target confusion so other group members won't attack the stunned target. Grouping with a hunter who is skilled at using his "Mark" ability is a good way to make sure the party is on the same page.

Tips

  • Use Sap, another great rogue ability, to gain access to items and to also deal with less enemies or one at a time. Sometimes the best way to complete a quest is through sapping an enemy, retrieving an item, and vanishing again from view.
  • Just play your rogue you will learn your own style and unique good way of playing your character
  • Making money as a rogue is simple. Gain access to a dungeon or a level of high mob occupancy, use stealth, and pick pockets.
  • once you're level 16 you should learn lock pick from your trainer. At about level 25 it really makes you some money.
  • Assassination - very good for applying poisons, very similar to combat, but much more poison action.
  • Subtlety- If you are the type of person who want to say i like to do it from behind... it helps with defeating some enemies because you hit them hard and unexpectedly.
  • One interesting thing you should know is that night elves DON'T make better rogues.
  • Rogues are very good at hunting people down, and is always helpful in supporting a tank, such as a warrior or paladin.
  • Keybinds are an absolute must as a rogue, because they have so many abilities that need to be used fast they must be keybound to something you can get to and that you will remember i.e i use shift + D for sprint if using D constantly to move.
  • Combat- Do damage consistently over long fights, keeping up damage, good for long bosses and very good survivability
  • In PvP, stun your opponent as much as possible.
  • Remember that Azeroth is very dangerous. Stay in your protective area (starting location) until about level five. You will not unlock new areas when you're a ghost so there's no point in dying and then wandering out of your lands.

Warnings

  • Don't walk into traps, disarm them!
  • Don't try to take on larger monsters until level sixteen. At level sixteen, you gain an ability called "Sprint", which enables you to run much faster for a short period of time, to ditch the enemy chasing you. Also at twenty-two you get Vanish, which will allow you to be able to disappear from other enemies.
