Steps
- Express important motives and purposes in simple ways. Ways in which people can understand and appreciate your final goals.
- Promote intelligence and logical problem solving. One can achieve this by allowing individual forms of thinking. Let people come up with their own solutions. Use encouraging comments like " What do you think? ", " Let me know ", " How can you or we improve this?" etc.
- Give personal attention. Treat each person individually.
- Advise or coach if necessary. Always stay positive no matter what happens with subordinates.
- Encourage subordinates to be more innovative, creative and to take more risks.
- Communicate high expectations and focus on your efforts.
- Aim to instill pride and gain respect from your subordinates. Remember respect is earned and has a great deal to do with trust. Can your learners trust you? If not, you may need to work on this.
- You will provide vision and a sense of mission to the people around you. This involves encouraging people to focus on the end result of their goals.
- In this way you will empower people to achieve beyond their limited expectations.
