Steps

  1. Express important motives and purposes in simple ways. Ways in which people can understand and appreciate your final goals.
  2. Promote intelligence and logical problem solving. One can achieve this by allowing individual forms of thinking. Let people come up with their own solutions. Use encouraging comments like " What do you think? ", " Let me know ", " How can you or we improve this?" etc.
  3. Give personal attention. Treat each person individually.
  4. Advise or coach if necessary. Always stay positive no matter what happens with subordinates.
  5. Encourage subordinates to be more innovative, creative and to take more risks.
  6. Communicate high expectations and focus on your efforts.
  7. Aim to instill pride and gain respect from your subordinates. Remember respect is earned and has a great deal to do with trust. Can your learners trust you? If not, you may need to work on this.
  8. You will provide vision and a sense of mission to the people around you. This involves encouraging people to focus on the end result of their goals.
  9. In this way you will empower people to achieve beyond their limited expectations.
