Be a Woodcutter Pure in RuneScape

A woodcutter pure is a character that has reached level 99 in the woodcutting skill, and has not worked on any other skills. The following article can also be used by anyone looking to increase their woodcutting skills, not just to create a pure.

Steps

To reach level 15

  1. Get a bronze axe. Go to Bob's Hatchets located next to the cemetery in Lumbridge and get a free sample of a bronze hatchet and/or a free pickaxe.
  2. Once you have a full inventory of logs, either go to the GE and store the logs using a banker, or drop them from your inventory (power-cutting).
  3. As soon as you can afford it, buy an iron axe as it cuts faster. when you reach level 5, get a steel axe and when you reach level 10 get a black axe.
  4. Repeat this until you reach level 15.
  5. Go to the bank and turn all of the logs you have collected into bank notes.
  6. Walk to the Grand Exchange, which is just above Varrock West bank, and sell your logs.

To reach level 31

  1. Cut Oak Trees
  2. When you reach level *, purchase a mithril axe from the Grand Exchange in Varrock.
  3. Cut oak trees.
  4. Repeat until you reach level 31.
  5. Walk to the bank and turn all your oak logs into bank notes.
  6. Walk to the Grand Exchange and sell your oak logs.

To reach level 60

  1. Buy a Rune axe when you reach level 41.
  2. Cut oak, willow, maple or teak trees.
    • Willow trees can be found north of the chicken farm near Lumbridge or at the Barbarian outpost (Members only)or in Draynor, as the bank is pretty much right next to them.
    • Maple trees become available at level 45 (only found for non-members on woodcutting island.)(Which requires level 30 Dungeoneering). These can be found at Camelot behind the bank or near the WC Expert.
    • Teak trees provide the faster experience of all trees. Complete the Monkey Madness quest, equip your monkey greegree, and go to Ape Atoll.

To reach level 85

  1. Cut oak, willow, maple, teak, or yew trees.
    • Yew trees are located near Falador, inside Varrock East side, the gnome stronghold, near Rimmington and out in the forest behind Lumbridge Castle. These yield more money than willows, but are slower to cut.

To reach level 99

  1. Buy a dragon axe (Members only).
  2. Cut willow, yew, mahogany, choking ivy, or magic trees. CHOKING IVY IS BY FAR THE FASTEST, BUT THE ONLY MONEY YOU GET IS FROM NESTS!!
    • Mahogany trees can be found in the Hardwood Grove by Tai Bwo Wannai (Members only). Players must pay 100 trading sticks, the currency in Tai Bwo Wannai, each time they enter the fenced-in area where the trees are. They are also found on Ape Atoll and in the Kharazi Jungle.
    • Magic Trees become available at level 85, and are located at Seers Village, in Mage Training Arena near Duel Arena, or near Lletya (You must complete a quest to be able to woodcut near Lletya.)
    • Choking ivy can be found by the yew trees south of Falador. It is found east of the south entrance of Falador.

Tips

  • After you get level 99 woodcutting, you can get a woodcutting skill cape.
  • Don't forget to go to the sawmill!! Always take large orders and cut beyond what is required for extra xp!! For fastest sawmill xp, just exit/re-enter the sawmill to dump extra planks.
  • If you are looking for money and getting 99 woodcutting you will want to cut yews. The total amount of money cutting yews from level 60-99 will be about 27 Million GP. (excluding nest that fall out of the tree, which are members only)
  • Be very patient. You're not going to get 99 woodcutting in a day, it takes months, even a year if you don't play much.
  • After level 60, if you have a house in Rimmington with a servant you can use your servant as a banker.(You must be a member to be able to do this)
  • Members now also have access to a woodcutting minigame, the Evil Tree, that they can participate in twice a day. In the minigame, players attempt to kill the evil tree by cutting it down or setting it on fire. It can be found by talking to the spirit tree in the north-east of the Grand Exchange.
  • Use sacred clay axes from Stealing Creation! They may cut a bit slower than a dragon hatchet does, but it's double the experience (or 120% more for the volatile tool).
  • Make sure you're as light as possible. If you are a member you can also obtain the boots of lightness which adds a bonus of -4 to your weight. Spot capes also work well.
  • For really good experience, you can chop Ivy which grows on walls of cities such as Falador or Varrock. Your inventory never gets full from chopping Ivy.
  • For even faster results if you are a member, go to Stealing Creation, and get a Sacred Clay Hatchet and cut the trees in the order above. You can wield the hatchet at level 40 attack. Using the Sacred Clay Hatchet gives you double the XP.
