Be an Efficient Hotel Manager

If the management or the owner would like his hotel to be a good example for the other hotels in the city, he has to hire a captain, team leader who can set himself as a good example for others and be an efficient leader.

Steps

  1. Be educated, well mannered, and put yourself in others' shoes. Be a good humanitarian. Your product is the guest. Emphasize hospitality, service. Instead of how to make money you should think how to make the guest happy and satisfied through your team's efficient service.
  2. Always forecast and plan. Prevention is better than cure. Put your best foot forward and take a lot of preventive measures and keep the property clean, hygienic and free from complaints. Guests are coming to relax and enjoy pleasure of your service, rather to give a list of complaints and repairs and maintenance jobs.
  3. Have a thorough knowledge of your product and services. If you come across a query from your guest that you are unable to answer, get his/her contact Information and reply back with an appropriate answer at the earliest possible opportunity.
  4. Delegate your responsibilities to your subordinates because you may not be able to complete them all by yourself. This you can do during the meeting/briefing before the start of a shift/operation. Debrief your team with tips on improving the services or share details of a product, menu item etc.
  5. Praise in public but always reprimand in private for your fellow colleagues/subordinates.
