Change the Android Voice

If you don't like the current voice on Android when it gives directions or reads email, you can change it. This is possible with built-in controls.

Steps

  1. Hit "System Settings" in the Android menu to get started with changing the voice.
  2. Select "Language & Input."
  3. Select "Text-to-speech output" towards the bottom of the screen under "Speech."
  4. Hit the gear icon next to the "Google text to speech" option. You can also click "Listen to an example" to play the current voice.
  5. Click on "Language" in the settings screen.
  6. Select a language that comes up, including accents like "English (United Kingdom)" to change the voice on Android.



Tips

  • You can also change the settings regarding the speed of the voice as well as the volume.
