Cheat On Exams Using a TI‐86 Calculator

If you have trouble on your math and science exams, you can use your TI graphing calculator to store equations or even answers. Some teachers erase your calculator's memory before a test, and some don't. Just in case, this will show you how to archive your things to cheat the system.

NOTE: This is not encouraged, nor is it allowed. You may get into serious trouble if you are caught and this is not a good idea. Follow these steps at your own risk.

Steps

  1. Press "Program" then move over to "new" and press "Enter".
  2. Name the program using the green letters, the alphabet mode will already be engaged, press "Enter" to continue.
  3. Type in formulas or what not. Pressing "Enter" will make a new line so you can keep organized.
  4. To read the notes just go to "Edit" in the program menu and select the one you want.
  5. Just in case the teacher tries to hinder you by deleting the RAM, you can archive it. Press 2nd, then + then and go to "All". Then go down to your notes/cheating program and press Enter on it. There should be a "*" next to it now. It will not work while the star is there, so after the Ram has been deleted, go back to that menu and take the star off of it. Now you can use it once again. Don't try to pull this if you think your teacher will check it for whatever reason.
  6. If you're a risk taker try writing your formulas on the back of your calculator.

Tips

  • To type letters, press "Alpha". This will only work for one letter, like shift. To put on letter-lock, press "2nd-Alpha". To go back to numbers, press "Alpha".
  • If you accidentally exit the screen it will be saved, just go the programs menu and move over to "Edit" to continue creating or changing the notes.
  • As stated before, either write it in pencil or measure out a peace of loose-leaf to fit width wise with the calculator and tape it flat on the cover. Make sure there are no bumps or edges sticking up. From here, you can slide the calculator in and out. Just make sure you don't separate the calculator from the cover in case your teacher walks by.
  • Another option is writing equations on the inside of the cover. If you write in pencil it is hard to see and it washes off with a swipe from your thumb.
  • You can also store a note card between the calculator and the cover.

Warnings

  • Typing things into the calculator takes a while, see "tips" section.
  • If you get caught, you could get in serious trouble. This may result in suspension or, if it is an important exam, expulsion.
