Clear Facebook Notifications
This article teaches you how to remove notifications you've already viewed from the Notifications menu on Facebook. Unfortunately, you cannot remove all of your Facebook notifications at once.

Steps
Clearing Notifications on the Mobile App (iPhone)
- Open the Facebook app. It's the white "F" on a blue background icon. If you're logged in, doing so will open your News Feed.
- If you aren't already logged into Facebook, type in your email address (or phone number) and password and tap Log In.
- Tap the globe icon. It's at the bottom of the screen and to the left of the ☰ icon. Doing so will open your recent notifications.
- Swipe left on a notification. Doing so will bring up the Hide option to the right of the notification.
- Tap Hide. Doing this will remove the notification from your Facebook activity log; you'll no longer see it when you tap the globe icon.
- You can repeat this process for each notification you wish to clear.
Clearing Notifications on the Mobile App (Android)
- Open the Facebook app. It's the white "F" on a blue background icon. If you're logged in, doing so will open your News Feed.
- If you aren't already logged into Facebook, type in your email address (or phone number) and password and tap Log In.
- Tap the globe icon. It's at the top of the screen. Doing so will open your recent notifications.
- Tap and hold a notification. You should see a context menu with Hide notification pop up after about a second.
- Tap Hide notification. Doing so will remove the notification from your recent notifications menu and the activity log.
Clearing Notifications on Desktop
- Open the Facebook website. If you're logged into Facebook, doing so will open your News Feed.
- If you aren't logged into Facebook, enter your email address (or phone number) into the top right corner of the screen and click Log In.
- Click the notifications globe. It's in the top right side of the screen. Doing so will open a drop-down menu of your recent Facebook notification.
- Hover your cursor over a notification. You should see a "..." icon and a small circle appear on the right side of the notification's box.
- For example, if you want to remove a notification about a friend liking your status, you'd place the mouse cursor over "[Name] likes your post: [Post]."
- Click the "..." button. You'll see this in the top right corner of the individual notification's box.
- Click Hide this notification. It's on the right side of the screen. Doing so will promptly remove the notification from the globe icon menu and prevent it from appearing again when you open the Recent Notifications menu later.
Tips
- You can change which notifications appear in your recent notifications from within the Notifications section of the Facebook Settings menu.
Warnings
- Unlike email, you can't delete all notifications at once on Facebook.
