Cock and Shoot a Spring Airsoft Pistol

Spring airsoft guns deliver great power, accuracy, and reliability, but have a relatively low rate of fire. "Springers" are recommended for anyone, not just beginners, due to the fact that they do not require gas, charging, batteries, and so on. However spring guns are not recommended when everyone else has electric guns, unless you have a high power sniper (400FPS or higher). Learn all the steps to successfully cock and shoot an airsoft spring action gun.

Steps

  1. Put the Airsoft gun on safety mode. (Some guns can't cock on safety. If so then be extremely careful). The next few steps are different depending on what type of airsoft gun you're using.
  2. Remove the magazine with the magazine release catch. (The location of this might change depending on your gun, just look at the manual.)
  3. Read the manual on how to load the BB's, and then load them.
  4. Insert the magazine into the magazine well of the gun.
  5. Slide the cocking handle of the gun back until you hear a "click", and then let it go.
  6. Aim at your target by lining up the front sight with the rear sight.
  7. Turn off the safety.
  8. Aim the gun using the scope or sights. Hold your breath, and then as you're releasing your breath, pull the trigger.
  9. Squeeze the trigger.
  10. Repeat.

Tips

  • For better accuracy, and often better range, use .2g BBs.
  • When Airsofting it is recommended to wear a paint ball mask that can protect to over 300FPS (Feet Per Second) for paint balls this hits harder than a 6mm BB. If you don't want to use a paint ball mask then ALWAYS wear approved eye wear. To find out if your eye wear is approved it should say "Z87" somewhere on it. as long as it has "Z87" you should be good. there are lots of variations of what it says after "Z87" but the "Z87" means that they are approved safety glasses.
  • Boxes make great targets. Also aluminum cans with some water in them (to keep them from blowing away in wind) work great.
  • Do not re-use BB's that you have already fired, as they can get jammed in the gun and cause serious problems. The reason for this is that the BB's can develop small cracks and break when fired, thus jamming, or they become covered in dirt or just get dirty in general so that can scratch or damage the inside of your barrel or damage the inside of the magazine when loaded.

Warnings

  • Don't shoot at people that don't have eye protection.
  • Do not store or leave cocked for an extended period of time. This is bad for the springs and it will either break the gun or accidentally go off.
  • Do not pull the cocking handle two times. That can jam the gun and may damage the gun.
  • Don't shoot at people who don't want to be shot at.
  • Always be careful while firing. Firing within a municipality is often illegal. While you may not necessarily be punished as of the law, you could be fined if caught.
