Cook Tandoori Chicken at Home
A tandoor is a cylindrical oven made of clay, heated to a high heat with charcoal or wood, and used in India for baking bread and roasting meat. Tandoori chicken is an Indian dish marinated in yogurt, ginger, garlic, cumin powder, red chili powder, garam masala and baked in the Tandoor oven. The oven is also great for grilling.

Ingredients
- Chicken - 4-8 pieces (drumstick)
- Plain yogurt - 1 cup
- Salt, pepper
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika powder - 1 teaspoon
- Ginger, finely chopped - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic, finely chopped - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps
- Wash, drain and slit the chicken.
- Mix all the ingredients with the yogurt.
- Add the chicken.
- Marinate for 4-6 hours or overnight.
- Grill/Cook the marinated chicken in the oven for 20 - 30 minutes.
- Garnish with sliced red onions, cilantro and lemon juice.
- Finished.
Tips
- For a lower fat version skin the chicken before marinating.
- Try cooking over a hot charcoal fire for added flavor.
- Wash, drain and slit the chicken so that the chicken is marinated well.
