Create Folders on an iPad

As with the computer and iPhone, folders are a useful means for organizing your information. If you have an iPad with iOS 4.2, you'll be able to create folders and reduce the level of screens you need to search to find what you're looking for. Here is how to create them.

Steps

  1. Tap on any application icon that you want to go into a folder. Hold down the application icon; it will start bouncing shortly.
  2. Once it bounces, drag the application icon over another application icon on the screen. At this point, a folder will display and you'll find both applications slotted into it.
  3. Continue tapping and dragging on any other application you'd like in the folder.
  4. Rename the folder if needed. The iPad will provide a name automatically. If the suggested name isn't what you want, edit it. Simply tap on the name and type in your choice of name using the screen keyboard. To complete the process, tap the "Home" button. This will take you out of editing.
  5. Create more folders as wished. The folders can also store videos and photographs.
  6. Finish up. Start enjoying using your folders to move around the iPad more efficiently.

Tips

  • Give your folders a clear name, this will help you find your apps much more quickly.
