Determine if You Are Ready to Drive on Roads and Freeways

To determine if you are ready to drive on roads and freeways is to assess your driving skills yourself. A lot depends on confidence and/or over confidence. Sometimes it is good to ask someone who knows you maybe better than you know yourself.

Steps

  1. Ask yourself a few questions like "Do I feel scared to drive on the road by myself?" "Are other people scared for me to drive while they are my passenger?" "Can I concentrate on what I am doing?" Does it feel comfortable?
  2. Consider if you can you drive at the speed limit and feel safe. If you are not comfortable driving at the speed limit on a quite road with or without someone in the vehicle with you then maybe you need some more confidence building with a bit more practice first.
  3. Try a quiet street during low traffic times with someone you trust and trusts you too a few times first. Don't drive with distractions at first. Keep the radio off and don't listen to music until you are comfortable driving.
  4. Watch a few cars in front and if you see the vehicle a few feet ahead braking, start slowing down. Don't wait for the driver in front to hit their brakes before you hit yours.

Tips

  • You will learn more in the first six months on the road driving by yourself and relying on your own skill. Maybe you will have a small accident during this time. Even though it is scary at the time it almost always happens to almost everyone if they're honest or if they can remember.

Warnings

  • Stay sober.
  • Drive safely.
  • Don't take your eyes off the road even when you are talking to passengers
