Draw Grass

Learn the easy way to draw grass. This tutorial will show you simple steps on how to draw grass.

Steps

Fancy grass

  1. Draw a horizontal line to form the foundation of the grass.
  2. Draw curves from the horizontal line to make the grass outline.
  3. Based off of the outline, draw the grass by making a series of connected curves pointing upward.
  4. Color your grass!

Realistic grass

  1. Draw a horizontal line to form the foundation of the grass.
  2. Draw a series of long, narrow, pointed curves to make the grass.
  3. Complete your grass by drawing pointed curves facing downward on the edges of the grass.
  4. Color your grass!

Draw Grass Using a Pencil

  1. Create a border on the paper you are going to draw on.
  2. Visualize where you will be drawing the grass and create a rough outline.
  3. Sketch soft small curved strokes using a pencil, point some to the left, and others to the right.
  4. Darken the strokes on the second layer of the grass drawing to make it appear like it has texture.
  5. Add details like a few small rocks for added interest.
  6. Darken a few areas, places which were supposed to be dirt.

Draw Cartoon Style Grass

  1. Create a silhouette of a blade of grass by drawing two slightly curved lines intersecting on one end.
  2. Repeat Step 1 and make as many grass blades as you want, each pointing either to the left or right.
  3. For folded grass effect, sketch two parallel curved lines pointing upwards.
  4. Connect these two lines by adding another pair of parallel lines, but this time, intersect these two lines so that they meet at the tip.
  5. Draw a parallel line to connect the lines you had drawn earlier.
  6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 and add as many you wish.
  7. Draw stones and pebbles for added interest.
  8. Color the drawing.
