Draw a Banana

Bananas are very simple to draw. This article will show you how to draw one. The banana shown in this tutorial is un-peeled.

Steps

  1. If you want to, find a reference. A good way to do this is to Image search "Banana".
  2. Using a pencil, lightly draw a gentle curve. this is your baseline.
  3. Based around the center of that curve, draw a circle. it should be about the width you want your banana to be.
  4. From the edge of that circle, draw a curve that meets up with the end of your baseline. It should curve in the same direction as the baseline, and not look jarring.
  5. Repeat step 4 until you have a crescent shape.
  6. Make 1 or 2 light dots in the circle, evenly spread at a right angle to your baseline.
  7. Sketch 1 or 2 more curves from one side of the baseline to the other. They should meet up with the dots made in step 6 on their way.
  8. At one end of the banana, not quite at the tip, draw a rectangle. make it slightly thinner at one end then at the other, so it looks like a stem.
  9. You may want to add an oval at the end of the stem so it looks more conical.
  10. Add a rounded "nib" shape at the end of the stem.
  11. Round the other end with an oval.
  12. Trace with either a much harder hand on the pencil, a softer pencil, or a pen.
  13. Clean up.
  14. Finished.

Tips

  • It is even better to reference a real banana.
  • if using a pen to trace, try to avoid moving it "sketchily", as that does not give a clean finish.

Warnings

  • You don't need to do exactly what this tutorial says. if you figure out that something else looks better or is easier, do what you think.
