Steps

A Cartoon Cat

  1. Make an angular oval for the head.
  2. Attach angular triangles for the ears.
  3. Overlap the oval with a much bigger oval for the body.
  4. Overlap further with smaller vertical ovals for the legs of the animal.
  5. Draw even smaller horizontal ovals for the paws.
  6. Join the ovals of the fore legs with a small curved line.
  7. Add a curved string-like line for the tail.
  8. Make an oval at the tip of the tail line.
  9. Draw all the details of the cat.
  10. Then erase all earlier lines.
  11. Color and shade the cat.

  2. Overlap it with a circle at its bottom.
  3. Add another circle at the bottom right of the earlier one.
  4. Attach two triangles on the top of the topmost oval.
  5. Join the bottom circles with straight lines.
  6. Extend three straight lines from the ovals and circles for the legs.
  7. Make small overlapping ovals for the paws of the forelegs.
  8. Create another couple of overlapping ovals for the hind legs.
  9. Make a small curved line for the tail.
  10. Create a couple of angular straight lines for the eyes and a triangle between them for the nose.
  11. Draw curved lines on either side of the eye-lines.
  12. Make small curves on either side from the tip of the triangle.
  13. Draw all the details of the cat based on the guide lines.
  14. Erase all the guidelines.
  15. Color the cat.

Tips

  • Use a pencil most of the time so you can erase your mistakes.
  • Keep on practicing, you'll get better and better the more you do so.
  • Coloring your picture always makes it look better. Markers and colored pencils really make things look nice...so do slender crayons.
  • Try shading after you finish.
  • When doing the sketch, do it lightly so the marks don't stay. You could always go over the lines later.
  • If you don't have the same colors, don't worry. Any colors can work. Even purple!

Warnings

  • Don't worry if you mess up. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
